MINUTES

WAUPACA COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION

September 20, 2012

1. The regular meeting of the Waupaca County Veterans Service Commission was called to order, 3:00 PM.  Commissioners present included, Mr. Gerald Connolly, Ms. Brandy Suprise and Mr. James Goeser.

2. Open Mtg. Notice had been provided in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes.

3. After  the January 2012  minutes were reviewed a motion was made by Connelly and seconded by Suprise to approve the minutes.  Roll call vote: Connolly-aye, Goeser-aye and Suprise-aye, Motion carried.

4. A motion was made by Connolly and seconded by Suprise to go into closed session per WI State Statutes, Sec. 19.85(1) (f).  Roll call vote:  Connolly-aye, Goeser-aye and Suprise-aye, Motion carried.

5. Veterans Service Commission Grant applications were reviewed.  A motion was made by Suprise and seconded by Goeser to accept the applications.  Roll call vote:  Connolly-aye, Goeser-aye and Suprise-aye, Motion carried.

6. A motion was made by Connolly and seconded by Suprise to return to open session.  Roll call vote:  Connolly-aye, Goeser-aye and Suprise-aye, Motion carried. 

7. A motion was made by Suprise and seconded by Connolly to accept Service Officer’s Report.  Roll call vote:  Connolly-aye, Goeser-aye and Suprise-aye, Motion carried. 

8. A motion was made by Connolly and seconded by Goeser to accept Commission Budget & Disbursement Report.  Roll call vote: Connolly-aye, Goeser-aye and Suprise-aye, Motion carried. 

9. Correspondence/Announcements – CVSO Knutson will work on some minor modifications to the Grant Application form to limit the social security number to only the last four digits.  Also, to include a section for the applicant to briefly explain their story, i.e., what happened and what actions are being taken to prevent it from happening again.  There will also be a section for the CVSO to record follow-on contact information.                                                                                                                           
10. Unfinished Business – None.

11. New Discussion without Action – Ideas to improve follow-up with Relief Grant recipients were discussed.  Donations  made to the Veterans Service Office to help veterans in need were discussed.  Approaching the Iola Old Car Show for donations was suggested.

12. Next Meeting will be held January 31, 2013 @ 3:00 PM, Waupaca Courthouse, 3^rd Floor, CVSO Office.

13. A motion was made to adjourn, at 4:45 PM, by Suprise and seconded by Connelly.  Roll call vote:  Connolly-aye, Goeser-aye and Suprise-aye, Motion carried.
