Chr. Kussmann called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. and gave the open meeting statement.

 

Roll call:  Dennis Kussmann, Mary Kay Poehlman, Dona Gabert-excused, Terry Murphy and Fred Zaug.  A quorum was established.  Others present:  Jeff Siewert, Terrie Tews-Liebe and Mary Robbins.

 

Agenda:  Motion:  Supr. Zaug and Supr. Murphy seconded the motion to approve the agenda.  The motion was carried without a negative vote.

 

Minutes:  Motion: Supr. Poehlman moved and Supr. T. Murphy seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the April 15 and April 19 meetings.  Motion carried without a negative vote.

Welcome New Member Supr. Fred Zaug.

 

Reports:

            Judicial – none

 

            District Attorney John Snider.  DA Snider explained that they have replaced Jennifer O’Brien’s position with Maryann E. Lepianka, who was working as an intern in the department.  Judge Vicki Clussman starts her new position on August 1, 2014, they have sent out applications and needs to be filled by August 1st.

           

            Clerk of Circuit Courts – Terrie Tews-Liebe.  Terrie’s office is scanning all of the civil, misdemeanor files of 2014. 2015 they hope to be paperless on felony files, also.  Traffic and small claims won’t be scanned.  They are working on a new Summons and Petition needs Judge’s approval for paternity acknowledgement forms, which should help save a lot of time.  Discussed return of seized property mostly animals and pawn shop items, this is beginning to become more common and there is legislation in the works to address these items.  2nd Hearing order after the surrender of a weapon will be implemented on November 1, 2014, more paper work etc.  Courtroom audio/video upgrades they are still getting quotes and will keep committee updated.

 

Corporation Counsel Jeff Siewert.  Jeff distributed his monthly report.  They have filed the lawsuit/declaratory judgment for the Little Hope Dam Lake District.

 

Sheriff Brad Hardel – Update on Violence in the workplace training.  In Madison, did not contact County Clerk with any further information.

 

Safety/Security Training Update – Deputy Emergency Management Director Eric Halverson.  Eric shared with the committee the Standard Response Protocol that Director Carlin and he have been using for the Schools and they are modifying this booklet for the County employees.  The Safety Directors have been reactivated and are meeting monthly to plan and implement training and procedures for the Courthouse employees.  They will be implementing the final procedures into the annual performance evaluation of each employee.  We will be reviewing a power point presentation that DHHS Lana Draeger had put together and updated that to present to the committee and then use that for an orientation for employees at the annual review.

 

Leighton, Andy and Eric did will do a walk through the parking lot to see where signs can be placed for evacuation purposes, explained to the committee that they have secured offsite at Neuville’s Garage across the street to the North, the Middle School to the South and to the East the parking lot.

 

He spoke about the panic buttons, they are correcting that issue and they ask that if you want to schedule tests to just call and let the Comm. Center know when you would be doing the test.  Eric, also, explained the new CodeRed program that sends messages of severe weather directly to your cellphone and that they have a very good turnout for people that have already signed up for this free service.

 

County Code of Ordinances, Ch. 2. – Clerk Robbins.  Mary explained that the suggested changes will be going to the Executive Committee, but the date has had to be postponed from May until June sometime.

 

New meeting date, time and place.  These meetings will be held on the First Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. on Third Floor in Room 3021 (next to the D.A.’s office) when available.
