LAW ENFORCEMENT MEETING

7 January 2014

            The Waupaca County Law Enforcement Committee was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Jonely. Members present: Supervisors  Craig,Handrich, and  Aasen. Supervisor Johnson was absent.  Others present: Sheriff Hardel, Chief Deputy Kraeger, Captains Rasmussen, Wogsland, Wilz, Conat.

Chairman Jonely made the opening meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Committee are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so that the citizenry may be aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting.

No persons from Public for input.

            Motion by Supervisor Craig, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to approve the minutes of the December 17, 2013 meeting of the Law Enforcement Committee.  Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to approve the agenda. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Handrich, seconded by Supervisor Aasen to approve the bills as submitted. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Cpt. Wilz reported caller ID for non emergency callers is coming in February.  Curtis Floistad has accepted offer for telecommunicator and after background checks on the two other candidates are completed, they will start.

            Cpt. Wogsland reported they have a need for one corrections officer and Portage is sending more inmates to the jail.  They are ordering totes for prisoners’ belongings.

            Cpt. Conat reports they are waiting for the DA to start a John Doe hearing on the Wally World case.  More child abuse cases are being reported.

            Cpt. Rasmussen reported on Patrol division statistics.  Motion by Supervisor Aasen, second by Supervisor Handrich to approve the report.  Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Sheriff’s Office report was presented by Chief Deputy Kraeger.  Motion to approve the report by Supervisor Handrich, second by Supervisor Aassen.  Motion carried without a negative vote.  

            Sheriff Hardel informed the committee that Code Red information will be presented at the next meeting.  It is a system to mass notify citizens.

Dance Hall permits approved were:  Shamrock Heights and Landing Strip.  Motion by Supervisor Craig, second by Supervisor Aasen and carried without a negative vote.

Supervisor Craig moved, Supervisor Aasen second to adjourn at 10:25 a.m.  Motion carried without a negative vote.
