LAW ENFORCEMENT MEETING

 October 8, 2013   

            The Waupaca County Law Enforcement Committee was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Jonely. Members present: Supervisors Johnson, Aasen, Craig and Handrich. Others present: Sheriff Hardel, Chief Deputy Kraeger, Captains Conat, Wilz, and Wogsland and Chairman Koeppen.

Chairman Jonely made the opening meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Committee are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so that the citizenry may be aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting.

No persons from Public for input.

            Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve the minutes of the September 17, 2013 meeting of the Law Enforcement Committee. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Craig, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve the revised agenda with 9:00 am start. Motion carried without negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Craig, to approve and sign the bills as submitted. Motion carried without a negative vote.

Communications Center update reported by Captain Wilz, that a telecommunicator has resigned from the Communications Center, they are working without 4 needed telecommunicators.  Lighting struck the Jail and Communications Center and a switch failed.

Corrections Division update reported by Captain  Wogsland, that James Santiago went to the Patrol Division and they are 1  officer short.  

Detective Division update reported by Captain Conat, ongoing investigations with the horses in Clintonville, a still born death is being investigated, some stolen equipment has been recovered, and increase in drug activity.

Patrol Division Update by Sheriff Hardel, presented monthly report.  Julie Thobaben is now a Detective Sergeant.  James Santiago has taken her position so there is a vacant position in the jail.

Motion by Supervisor Handrich, seconded by Supervisor Aasen, to accept Patrol Report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

Sheriff’s Office monthly report given by Chief Deputy Kraeger for September 2013.  Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve Sheriff’s Office report. Motion carried without a negative vote. 

Sheriff’s Report by Sheriff Hardel reported on the lightning strike and ensuing problems. 

2014 Budget was examined and Supervisor Craig moved to approve and send to Finance and to bring options to them, Supervisor Handrich second.  Motion carried without negative vote.

There were no Dance Hall permits.

             

Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to adjourn at 11:20 a.m. Motion carried without a negative vote.
