LAW ENFORCEMENT MEETING

 April 9 2013   

            The Waupaca County Law Enforcement Committee was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Jonely. Members present: Supervisors Johnson, Craig, Aasen and Handrich. Others present: Sheriff Hardel, Captains Wilz, Rasmussen, Wogsland.

Chairman Jonely made the opening meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Committee are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so that the citizenry may be aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting.

No persons from Public for input.

            Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2013 meeting of the Law Enforcement Committee. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Craig, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried without negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve and sign the bills as submitted. Motion carried without a negative vote.

Communications Center update by Capt Wilz reported that equipment problems are being addressed.  Sheila Wolfgram will be finishing training in June and a new hire will start training in June.

Corrections Division update by Sheriff Hardel reported that James Santiago started April 8th, Jessica Prasalowicz will be starting April 17th, and Curtis Much will be starting April 22nd.  New Contract signed with Wood County through 2023.  Jeri Allen accepted a clerks position with the City of Waupaca.  Before the meeting started, Jim Santiago and Sgt. Jesse Cuff were introduced to the committee wearing the new black uniforms.

 Detective Division update by Sheriff Hardel reported that Capt Conat is trying to get a vehicle into a lab for evidence and the department is very busy with various cases.

Patrol Division Update by Capt. Rasmussen, presented monthly report, and reported that New Patrol Officer Josh Krueger and Bryan Strobusch have started. 

Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Johnson, to accept Patrol Report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

Sheriff’s Office monthly report given by Sheriff Hardel for March 2013.  Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve Sheriff’s Office report. Motion carried without a negative vote. 

Sheriff’s Report by Sheriff Hardel:

            Discussed the Wood County contract through 2023.  Spoke about the Marathon County incident involving a Marathon County Corrections Officer being hospitalized by an inmate, and has offered to take safekeepers from them if needed.

 

            Dance Hall Permit for Silver Lake Lanes in Scandinavia, Motion by Supervisor Craig, seconded by Supervisor Aasen.  Motion carried without negative vote.   

 

Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to adjourn at 9:58 a.m. Motion carried without a negative vote.
