LAW ENFORCEMENT MEETING

 February 12 2013   

            The Waupaca County Law Enforcement Committee was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Jonely. Members present: Supervisors Johnson, Craig, Aasen and Handrich. Others present: Sheriff Hardel, Chief Deputy Kraeger, Captains Wilz, Rasmussen and Conat.

Chairman Jonely made the opening meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Committee are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so that the citizenry may be aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting.

            Motion by Supervisor Handrich, seconded by Supervisor Johnson, to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2013 meeting of the Law Enforcement Committee. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Johnson seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to amend agenda to include approval of bills and approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried with Supervisor Craig voting no.

            Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Craig, to approve and sign the bills as submitted. Motion carried without a negative vote.

Communications Center update by Capt Wilz included that Emergency Dispatch training has taken place.  He is looking at a computer system to enhance Spillman.  There were three outages in the 258-4466 line.  There is a need for a backup system.  The response to the problem was not timely.

Corrections Division update only included they are looking at an eligibility list and replacements for correction officers.  Capt Wogsland was ill and unable to attend the meeting.

Detective Division update by Capt Conat included drug search warrants, assisting Iola Police Department with robberies, and the Togstad/Mumbrue case is continuing.

Patrol Division Update by Capt. Rasmussen, presented monthly report, has one open position from promotions.  They are creating an eligibility list for future moves, Julie T eventually to new position, possibly another patrol officer move to another agency, Pat Gorchals on workers compensation.

Motion by Supervisor Aasen, second by Supervisor Handrich, to approve Divisional Updates / News.  Motion carried without a negative vote.

Chief Deputy’s monthly report presented. Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve Chief Deputy Kraeger’s report. Motion carried without a negative vote. 

Sheriff’s Report by Sheriff Hardel:

Busy with the recruitment process with patrol interviews today and dispatch on Friday, search warrants, Nick Traeger made a traffic stop that resulted in drug arrests and he is our next canine officer.

The Telephone System was previously discussed with the importance of not losing the 4466 line as that is where most of the activity happens. It is important to have a timely response to a problem.

Radio Project Update shows that we have approved an option and it will be worked on Feb 18.

Dance Hall Permits requested: CFCK Golf Inc, New London and Charles Harris for Crazy J’s Campground, Marion.

 

Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Johnson to approve Sheriff Hardel’s report and Dance Hall Permits. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to adjourn at 10:04 a.m. Motion carried without a negative vote.
