LAW ENFORCEMENT MEETING

11 December 2012   

            The Waupaca County Law Enforcement Committee was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Jonely. Members present: Supervisors Johnson, Craig and Handrich. Others present: Sheriff Hardel, Chief Deputy Kraeger, Captains Wilz, Olson, Conat and Rasmussen. Supervisor Aasen absent.

Chairman Jonely made the opening meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Committee are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so that the citizenry may be aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting.

            Motion by Supervisor Craig, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve the minutes of the November 6, 2012 meeting of the Law Enforcement Committee. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Craig seconded by Supervisor Johnson, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve and sign the bills as submitted. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Chief Deputy’s monthly report presented. Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve Chief Deputy Kraeger’s report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            CPT Rasmussen presented his monthly report. Motion by Supervisor Handrich, seconded by Supervisor Johnson to approve CPT Rasmussen’s report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

            Sheriff’s Report: 

1.      Badger State Sheriff accepting donations for 4 deputies and their families from Union County, New Jersey, displaced from their homes due to Hurricane Sandy. BSSA hoping for $1400 from each agency in State of WI.

2.      Arka retiring after 2013, canine handler does not wish to continue as a handler after 2013. Looking for new handler.

3.      Department will be spending money on double homicide.

4.      Officers complimented on handling difficult calls.

5.      Need Spillman Administrators in all division.

6.      Niemuth animals being monitored by humane officer and vet.

7.      Burglary solved, investigation continuing.

Motion by Supervisor Handrich, seconded by Supervisor Johnson to approve Sheriff Hardel’s report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

Communications System Update: Tate coming up with proposal to fix problems. Tweaking is done.

 

New Positions Update:  Todd Rasmussen, new Patrol Captain. Adam Wogsland, new Corrections Captain.

Corrections Sergeant and Patrol Sergeant – interviews scheduled.

 

Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Jonely to adjourn. Motion carried without a negative vote.
