LAW ENFORCEMENT MEETING

 

8 May 2012

 

                The Waupaca County Law Enforcement Committee was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Jonely. Members present: Supervisors Johnson, Aasen, Craig and Handrich. Others present: Sheriff Hardel, Chief Deputy Kraeger, Captains Wilz, Olson and Conat, Patrol Sergeant Goode, State Jail Inspector Nancy Thelen.

 

Chairman Jonely made the opening meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Committee are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so that the citizenry may be aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting.

 

Election of Committee Officers – Bill Jonely-Chairman, Dave Johnson-Vice Chairman, Pat Craig-Secretary.

 

                Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Johnson, to approve the minutes of the previous meetings of the Law Enforcement Committee. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

                Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

                Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich,  to approve the bills as submitted. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

                Chief Deputy presented monthly report. CPT Conat commented on a 2006 home invasion arrest. Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Johnson, to approve Chief Deputy Kraeger’s report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

                Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Handrich, to approve CPT Wilz’s report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

               

                Sheriff’s Report:  Fatal accident charged; 2012 Law Enforcement Torch Run June 7th. Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to approve the Sheriff’s report. Motion carried without a negative vote.

               

                Tower Update: moving forward quickly, June 25th is the week for the cutover. Schauger property finalized.

 

                State Jail Inspector Nancy Thelen: overview of her job.

 

                Weight Limit Report: 2012 – 37 shifts, 163 hours worked, mileage 2776, over 13 citations issued for $25,004.90. Other citations $802.00 – 55 total contacts.

 

                Resolution #5: Resolution #5 is an increase of Water Patrol wages to $15.50 per hour for boat patrol and $18.25 per hour for Water Patrol supervisors, effective upon passage by the County Board. Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to approve Resolution #5. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

                Resolution #6: Resolution #6 is for Reserve Deputy wage increase to $15.50 per hour, effective upon passage by the County Board. Motion by Supervisor Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Aasen to approve Resolution #6. Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

                Motion by Supervisor Aasen, seconded by Supervisor Handrich to adjourn. Motion carried without a negative vote.  Meeting adjourned at 9:56 a.m.
