LAKEVIEW MANOR COMMITTEE MEETING

MINUTES

11/5/13

1.       Chairman Barrington called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM in the Lakeview Manor Chapel area.

2.       Roll call Supervisors Barrington, Johnson, Penney, Sorensen and Mares also present Melissa Goke Business Office Manager, Melissa Drews Nursing Home Administrator, and Carrie Baxter-Crist Resident Services Coordinator. 

3.       Supervisor Sorensen moved to accept the agenda as written seconded by Supervisor Mares.  Motion carried.

4.       Motion to approve minutes of 10/28/13 made by Supervisor Johnson and seconded by Supervisor Penney.  Motion carried.

5.       Public Comments:  None

6.       Melissa Drews Nursing Home Administrator gave report to include following:

a.       Current census at Lakeview Manor  38

                                                               i.      Medicaid             23

                                                             ii.      Medicare/Insurance       4

                                                            iii.      Private Pay         9

                                                           iv.      Family Care         2

                                                             v.      Hospice                0

7.       Report on outstanding grievances.   None at present

8.       The Committee heard discussion of difficulties facing Lakeview Manor regarding the future business plan.  DHHS Christie Gonwa spoke to committee regarding challenges in the future for the difficult to manage resident in our county referencing summit with State of Wisconsin Dementia Care System study.

9.       The Committee heard from Melissa Drews Administrator and Amanda Welch HR regarding strategies to maintain employees at Lakeview Manor to care for the residents.  The discussion included Lakeview is denying admissions because of staffing challenges.  The discussion also included information of staff members who have applied at other institutions because of the uncertainties at Lakeview.    Motion made by Supervisor Sorensen for the HR Director to present options to address 90 day staffing emergency solutions to ensure resident care is not interrupted, seconded by Supervisor Johnson.   Motion carried.

10.   Moved by Supervisor Penney, seconded by Supervisor Sorensen to adjourn at 10:25 AM.  Motion carried.
