May 30, 2013 Highway Committee Meeting

Chairman Flease called the regular meeting of the Waupaca County Highway Committee to order at 9:00 a.m. in the Waupaca County Highway Department office building.

Members present – Chairman Flease, Supervisors Aasen, Mares, Peterson, and Jonely.

Also present; Timothy Neely, Waupaca County Highway Equipment Operator I, Dean Steingraber, Highway Commissioner and Jill Lodewegen, Administrative Assistant.

Chairman Flease presented the open meeting statement.

MOTION Jonely/Mares to approve the minutes of the May 17, 2013 regular Committee Meeting and the May 24, 2013 Spring Road Tour.  Passed, voice vote.

MOTION Mares/Peterson to approve the Agenda of the May 30, 2013 regular meeting of the Highway Committe.  Passed, voice vote.

The Committee members reviewed one (1) bill batch printout dated May 23, 2013.  MOTION Peterson/Mares to approve the bill batch as presented.  Passed, voice vote.

The committee presented Timothy Neely with a plaque, certificate and resolution thanking him for over 35 years of service as of his retirement date of May 31, 2013. MOTION Mares/Jonely to approve a resolution thanking Timothy Neely for over 35 years of service at the Waupaca County Highway Department.  Passed, voice vote.

Mr. Steingraber gave the Commissioner’s Report.

• He discussed calendar dates that involve the Committee.
• He discussed the Department projects.
• He distributed and discussed the Summary of All Jobs Total Actual VS Budget.

Mr. Steingraber recommended that the committee accept the amendment No. 2 to the contract with Martenson & Eisels, Inc. for the CTH “D” (Spurr Rd to USH 45) in the amount of $4,079.31. MOTION Peterson/Mares to accept amendment No. 2 to the contract with Martenson & Eisels, Inc. for the CTH “D” (Spurr Rd to USH 45) in the amount of $4,079.31. Passed, voice vote.

Mr. Steingraber  presented 50/50 bridge/culvert petitions for the town of Dayton for West Road, Dayton Road and Rural Road for a cost of $35,000 each and Jensen Road, East Road and Holmnlane Road for a cost of $5,000 each. MOTION Jonely/Peterson to accept the 50/50 bridge/culvert petitions for the Town of Dayton 50/50 cost share. Passed, voice vote.

Mr. Steingraber recommended that the committee accept the 2013 winter material pricing of $42 a ton for hot mix material. MOTION Aasen/Peterson to accept the 2013 winter material pricing of $42 a ton for hot mix material. Passed, voice vote.

Mr. Steingraber requested permission to quote for portable arrow board. MOTION Peterson/Jonely to quote for portable arrow board. Passed, voice vote.

Mr. Steingraber asked to committee to accept the quote from Waupaca Floor Décor for $11,949.37 to re-carpet and tile the main level of the Waupaca Office building. MOTION Mares/Peterson to accept the quote from Waupaca Floor Décor for $11,949.37 to re-carpet and tile the main level of the Waupaca Office building. Passed, voice vote.

MOTION Jonely/Mare to adjourn at 11:25 a.m.  Passed, voice vote.
