May 7, 2012 Highway Committee Meeting

 

Chairman Flease called the regular meeting of the Waupaca County Highway Committee to order at 9:00 a.m. in the Waupaca County Highway Department office building.

 

Members present – Chairman Flease, Supervisors Aasen, Jonely, Mares and Peterson.

 

Also present was Bill Garrow and Jim Beno of Garrow Oil, Mike Exford of Mead & Hunt,  Dean Steingraber, Highway Commissioner, and Jill Lodewegen, Confidential Administrative Assistant.

 

Chairman Flease presented the open meeting statement.

 

MOTION Mares/Jonely to approve the minutes of the April 20, 2012 regular meeting of the Highway Committee.  Passed, voice vote.

 

MOTION Jonely/Mares to approve the Agenda of the May 7, 2012 regular meeting of the Highway Committee as they were presented.  Passed, voice vote.

 

The Committee members reviewed 2 bill batch printouts both dated 4/26/2012.  MOTION Mares/Jonely to approve the bill batch as presented.  Passed, voice vote.

 

Mr. Garrow and Mr. Beno of Garrow Oil discussed how they feel Garrow Oil can help Waupaca County Highway manage fuel cost as well as discussed with the committee their process and procedures. The committee spoke of their specific needs and concerns. Mr. Beno distributed information about pricing from the last couple month. The committee told Garrow Oil that they would review the information in comparisons to our records of fuel purchases and get back to them.

 

Mr. Steingraber gave the Commissioner’s Report.

 

Mr. Exford of Mead & Hunt gave members of the committee a brochure on his company and let them know that they are available for any work that the Highway Department may have for them.

 

Mr. Steingraber recommended that the committee use Gremmer Associates for the design of the CTH “B” (Euclid Street to Canadian National Railroad) project.  MOTION Aasen/Peterson to use Gremmer Associates for the design of the CTH “B” (Euclid Street to Canadian National Railroad) project.   Passed, voice vote.

 

There was no action on agenda item  3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

 

 

Mr. Steingraber recommended that the committee accept the revised billing information from Aring Equipment Company for the backhoe #115, rubber tired excavator for $25,000. MOTION Mares/Jonely to accept revised billing information from Aring Equipment Company for the backhoe #115, rubber tired excavator for $25,000. Passed, voice vote.

 

Mr. Steingraber recommended the committee accept the bid for carbide insert blades from FABCO Equipment, Inc of $112.40 for 3/4”X 6”X 3’ flat  and $149.86 for 3/4”X 6”X4’ flat. Mr. Steingraber recommended the committee accept the bid for motor grader cutting edges from Midstates Blade & Chain, Inc of $81.64 for ¾”X8”X6’, $95.24 for ¾”X8”X7’ 5/8” punch, and $95.27 for ¾” x 8”X7’ ¾” punch. MOTION Mares/Jonely to accept the bid for motor grader cutting edges from Midstates Blade & Chain, Inc of $81.64 for ¾”X8”X6’, $95.24 for ¾”X8”X7’ 5/8” punch, and $95.27 for ¾” x 8”X7’ ¾” punch.
