 MINUTES - May 31, 2013

 

            County Board Chair Dick Koeppen called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. and gave the open meeting statement.

 

Roll call:  Dick Koeppen, Loughrin, Barrington, Federwitz, Flease, Jonely, Kussmann, L. Mares-excused, McClone, G. Murphy, Penney, Peterson, Craig--excused and Sorensen.  A quorum was established.  Others present:  Rep. Kevin Petersen, Rep. Gary Tauchen, Mary Robbins, Brad Hardel, Mike Mazemke, Al Kraeger, Ryan Brown, Heidi Dombrowski, Chuck Price, Roger Holman, Andy Carlin, Leighton Trice, Mandy Welch, Jeff Siewert, Clyde Tellock, Terrie Tews, Wayne Knutson, Jean Gliniecki, Dave Thiel, Terri Schulz and Lance Pliml Wood County Board Chair.

 

Open Session:

 

Review and Approve the Agenda.  Motion:  Supr. G. Murphy moved and Supr. Barrington seconded the motion to approve the agenda.  The motion carried without a negative vote.

 

Minutes of previous meeting, February 18, 2013.  Motion:  Supr. Kussmann moved and Supr. Peterson seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.  Motion carried without a negative vote.

 

County Board Chair Report.  None.  He will save his comments for later.

 

NC-ITBEC (North Central Industry, Tourism, Business, Economic Council) Wood County Board Chair Lance Pliml.  Mr. Pliml explained the benefits each county receives by being a member of this organization.  The representation by having a booth at the State Fair, alone pays for itself, they also, have lobbying power, supports the tourism trade, and helps promote jobs in the area.  Waupaca County dues are only $1,528.00 and well worth it.  Executive Director of the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce Terri Shulz said that our chamber spends $88,000 in tourism.  Mr. Pliml said there are currently 11 counties in the North Central-ITBEC.  He said that you would appoint two members to the Tourism Board and 2 board members to the Economic Development Board.  Mr. Pliml thanked the Committee and hoped that they would reinstate the $1,528.00 membership dues to NC-ITBEC in the 2013 budget.

 

Representative to the Assembly, District 6, Gary Tauchen.  Rep. Tauchen gave a brief background on himself, he has been a Representative for 6 years now and resides in Shawano County, and he represents the City of Clintonville, Village of Embarrass, Towns of Bear Creek, Lebanon and Matteson in Waupaca County.

 

Representative to the Assembly, District 40, Kevin D. Petersen.

 

Adjourn.  Supr. Flease moved and Supr. McClone seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:50 a.m.   The motion carried without a negative vote.  The meeting stands adjourned.
