Meeting Minutes

Monday April 14, 2014

 

·    The Waupaca County Emergency Management Committee was called to order by, Chairman Dick Koeppen, at 9:00 am.

 

      Members Present: Chairman Dick Koeppen, Vice Chairman Jim Loughrin, Gary Barrington, William Jonely and Gerald Murphy

 

      Others Present: Andrew Carlin, Eric Halverson

 

      Absent:  None

 

      Opening meeting statement was read by Chairman Dick Koeppen

 

      A motion was made by Supervisor Barrington and seconded by Supervisor Murphy to approve the minutes from the February 10, 2014 meeting.  Motion carried.

 

      A motion was made by Supervisor Barrington and seconded by Supervisor Loughrin to approve the agenda as written.  Motion carried.

Andrew Carlin and Eric Halverson reported on the following items:

·         Attended Waupaca County Fire Chiefs Association meeting (Clintonville)

·         Updating city and village EOP’s

·         Waupaca County HazMat Team refresher training moved to spring

·         Attended Court Security training

·         Attended Governors Conference (Appleton)

·         LEPC – member reports(informational)

·         Presented “Code Red” to County Board 

·         2nd half off site plans being updated

·         Saputo Closing, Agropur expanding

·         Weather spotter class April 9th (approx.. 55 attended)

·         Campground review and updates (contacts and site maps)

·          Spring Flood update

·         Updating Courthouse safety plan and procedures (drills, locations)

·         Working with Weyauwega/Fremont and New London schools on Safety           Plans updates

·         Hosted CAMEOfm training April 4,5,6

·         Participated in Public Health functional exercise March 25 

·         Planning Table Top exercise with Clintonville Long-term Care Facilities

·         Planning Table Top exercise with Portage County

·         Radio interview (severe weather, flood, fire danger awareness)

·         Working with several potential new reporting/planning facilities

·         UDSR with DPWs for water/sewer damage from extreme cold

·          Booth at WDUX Home Show (approx.. 500 people at booth)

·          WE Energies dispatch and safety seminar  

A motion was made by Supervisor Murphy and seconded by Supervisor Barrington to accepted  the report as presented. Motion carried.

Vice-Chairman Jim Loughrin stated that this would be his last Emergency Management Committee meeting. He reflected on the many changes that had taken place over the years. He thanked Andy Carlin and Eric Halverson for the many new programs that have been brought into the department.

Chairman Koeppen thanked Jim for his many years of service and dedication to the County and to this committee.

Also discussed was a date change of the June meeting due to a scheduling conflict.  It was determined that June 2, 2014 would be acceptable.

 

Next regular meeting of the Waupaca County Emergency Management Committee is scheduled for June 2, 2014 at 9:00 am in the conference room at the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office (room 1129).

·                     A motion was made by Supervisor Jonely and seconded by Supervisor Murphy, to adjourn. Motion carried.
