Meeting Minutes

Monday December 9, 2013

 

·    The Waupaca County Emergency Management Committee was called to order by, Chairman Dick Koeppen, at 9:00 am.

 

      Members Present: Chairman Dick Koeppen, Vice Chairman Jim Loughrin, Supervisors:  Robert Flease, Gary Barrington, William Jonely and Gerald Murphy

 

      Others Present: Andrew Carlin, Eric Halverson

 

      Absent:  None

 

      Opening meeting statement was read by Chairman Dick Koeppen

 

      A motion was made by Supervisor Murphy and seconded by Supervisor Loughrin to approve the minutes from the October 14, 2013 meeting.  Motion carried.

 

      A motion was made by Supervisor Barrington and seconded by Supervisor Jonely to approve the agenda as written.  Motion carried.

      Chairman Koeppen opened the meeting to the discussion of the Mass Notification system. A short presentation on the CodeRed system was given by Carlin Explained were the benefits to the citizens and various public agencies. The different types of messages and methods of notifications were discussed. Cost of the program and possible funding sources were discussed by all. Carlin said that this will be looked into with the anticipation that the cost would be shared by all the municipalities in the county. Halverson stated that several other programs have been reviewed.

 

Andrew Carlin and Eric Halverson reported on the following items:

·         Continue with MABAS training – Radio Drills with Comm Center

·         Attended Waupaca County Fire Chiefs Association meeting

·         Updating city and village EOP’s

·         Planning exercises with Portage County

·          Attended table top exercise in Waushara county on Agri-chemical fire

·         Attended WEMA conference – active shooter presentation

·         Meet with Waupaca School Admin. – (Iloveuguys) EOP.

·         Attended New Directors Series parts C & D

·         Researching reverse 911 system (Code Red presentation)

·         2 Minor Hazmat spills – diesel fuel from vehicle accidents

·         County Hazmat training – CAMEO, Tier II and WHOPRS

·         North American Hydro dam plan update – Weyauwega

·         Reviewed CN Dangerous Goods flow study

Next regular meeting of the Waupaca County Emergency Management Committee is scheduled for February 10, 2013 at 9:00 am in the conference room at the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office.

·                     A motion was made by Supervisor Murphy and seconded by Supervisor Flease, to adjourn. Motion carried.
