GOVERNMENTAL BODY:              WAUPACA COUNTY AGRICULTURE AND

                                                            EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE

 

DATE AND TIME:                            Monday, November 17, 2014 – 8:30am

 

PLACE:                                              Room 1037, Waupaca County Courthouse

                                                            811 Harding Street, Waupaca, WI

 

OPEN SESSION:  This meeting and all other meetings are open to the public.  Proper notice has been posted and given to the press, in accordance with Wisconsin statutes so that the citizens may be aware of the time, place, and agenda of this meeting.

 

1.            Call meeting to order and Open Meeting Statement was read by Supervisor Kietzmann at 8:30am.

 

2.            Roll call was conducted by Supervisor Kietzmann.  Present were Supervisors Kietzmann, Peterson, Handrich, Neumann, Ellis.

 

Also present were UW-Educators Connie Abert, Greg Blonde, Penny Tank, Christi Beilfuss, and Sandy Liang.

 

3.            Review and accept Agenda:

Motion by Ellis to accept Agenda; Second by Peterson; approved unanimously.

 

4.            Review previous meetings minutes ( October 27 and November 5):

Motion by Peterson to accept minutes from October 27 and November 5 meeting; Second by Ellis; approved unanimously.

 

5.            Educator Reports

·         Current Program and Outcomes

Reports from all educators were provided.

 

·         Educator Reports – Greg Blonde

In addition to his monthly report, Greg also distributed and reviewed his quarterly Ag Resource newsletter and demonstrated a Smart-phone app featured in the newsletter cover article. The app, which he helped develop and released earlier this fall, has already been downloaded by more than 300 Extension colleagues, farmers and Ag service professionals.  Greg also showed a short video of drone imagery from UW Extension specialists taken at several UW research stations this summer and talked about the enormous potential for this new technology once FAA regulations are developed. 

 

6.            Old Business

·         Department Head Report

Connie’s Department Head report is provided at the end of her educator report.  Connie shared a blank performance evaluation form that are used for support staff evaluations.

 

·         Update on CNRED position

We are waiting for a signed contract.

 

7.            New Business

·         Oversight, maintenance and utilization of a county truck

Motion by Neumann to accept transfer of ownership/responsibility of 2003 black Ford F150 (with topper) from County Parks Department to UWEX; Second by Handrich; approved unanimously.
