GOVERNMENTAL BODY:              WAUPACA COUNTY AGRICULTURE AND

                                                            EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE

 

DATE AND TIME:                            Monday, October 27, 2014 – 8:30am

 

PLACE:                                              Room 1037, Waupaca County Courthouse

                                                            811 Harding Street, Waupaca, WI

 

OPEN SESSION:  This meeting and all other meetings are open to the public.  Proper notice has been posted and given to the press, in accordance with Wisconsin statutes so that the citizens may be aware of the time, place, and agenda of this meeting.

 

1.            Call meeting to order and Open Meeting Statement

Supervisor Kietzmann called the meeting to order at 8:30am.

 

2.            Roll call

Present were Supervisors Kietzmann, Peterson, Handrich, Neumann. 

 

Also present were Connie Abert, Greg Blonde, Christi Beilfuss, and Sandy Liang

 

Absent: Supervisor Ellis and Penny Tank – both excused.

 

3.            Review and accept Agenda

Motion by Handrich to accept Agenda; Second by Peterson; Approved unanimously.

 

4.            Review previous meeting minutes  

Motion by Peterson to accept minutes from September meeting; Second by Neumann; Approved unanimously.

 

5.            Educator Reports

·         Current Program and Outcomes

Reports from all educators were provided.  Greg Blonde shared that he was recently recognized for Teamwork, Group Leadership and Responsiveness Award at the statewide ANRE conference.  He will also be on the county board agenda in November for USDA census survey and Implements of Husbandry (IoH) law which takes effect in January.

 

·         Educator Reports – Christi Beilfuss

WNEP Coordinator, Christi Beilfuss reported on “Apple Crunch Day” that was done in collaboration with NuAct, Farm-to-School and Food Day.  Christie shared the lesson that was conducted with third graders around the county.  This lesson included the science of apples tree grafting, a taste-testing demonstration of three different types of apples and bar graphing activity with the variety preference for apples the students tasted.

 

·         Department Head Report

Connie’s department head report and activities were provided at the end of her educator report.

 

6.            Old Business

·         CNRED position update - Final interviews are scheduled on November 5th. 

 

·         UW-Extension Committee Meetings and Times - August date.

The UWEX Committee decided to go with the 24th for their August monthly meeting.

·         Final Interviews for CNRED position – Wednesday, November 5, 2014 – 8:30am – meeting begins – 9am interviews begin.
