EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE
DATE AND TIME: Monday, September 29, 2014 – 8:30am
PLACE: Room 1037, Waupaca County Courthouse

1. Call meeting to order and Open Meeting Statement.
Supervisor Kietzmann called the meeting to order at 8:30 am and Open Meeting Statement was read.
2. Roll call
Present were County Supervisors Kietzmann, Peterson, Ellis, Neumann and Handrich.
Educators present were: Connie Abert, Greg Blonde, Christi Beilfuss and Penny Tank.
Absent: Sandy Liang (excused)
3. Review and accept Agenda
Motion by Handrich to accept Agenda; Second by Ellis; Approved unanimously.
4. Review previous meeting minutes
Motion by Ellis to accept minutes from August meeting; Second by Peterson; Approved unanimously.
5. Educator Reports
· Current Program and Outcomes
Reports from all educators were provided.
· Educator Reports
Connie highlighted Suicide Prevention Coalition work with recent national speaker Kevin Hines and October 22 Countywide QPR training in Manawa accompanied by a resource list of mental health providers in the county and surrounding area. Connie also highlighted the upcoming educational summit from the Waupaca County Advisory Committee on Criminal Justice focusing on Mental Health and Heroin/Prescription Drug abuse.
· Department Head Report
Connie and Penny shared updates from regional Department Head meeting and County Department Head meetings. Connie also shared UWEX Educational Priority visual handout and Penny explained the nominations process for PILD that needs to be submitted by middle of October.
6. Old Business
· CNRED position update
Connie overviewed interview day and will request interview questions for committee. Preliminary interviews are October 21 (Connie will Skype with applicants); Final interviews are scheduled for November 5 – to possibly begin at 10am.
· Intern - AmeriCorps and UWSP
Jean Oberstadt and Mikayla Wehrle are the new Farm to School members. Sandy has a UWSP intern helping with a few projects as fulfillment for the intern’s class.
7. New Business
· UW-Extension Committee Meetings and Times
Handout with 2015 dates is OK for all committee members and educators at this time.
· UW-Extension Contracts
Motion by Ellis to approve the 2015 contracts; Second by Peterson; Approved unanimously and signed.
· Thank you to Leighton and Tom for installation of projector and speaker in room 1037.
Leighton and Tom demonstrated a presentation using the projector and sound system.
