GOVERNMENTAL BODY:          WAUPACA COUNTY AGRICULTURE AND

                                                            EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE

 

DATE AND TIME:                          Monday, January 21, 2013 – 8:30 a.m.

 

PLACE:                                             Room 1037, Waupaca County Courthouse

                                                            811 Harding Street, Waupaca, WI

 

OPEN SESSION:  This meeting and all other meetings are open to the public.  Proper notice has been posted and given to the press, in accordance with Wisconsin statutes so that the citizens may be aware of the time, place, and agenda of this meeting.

 

 

1.            Call meeting to order and Open Meeting Statement – Peterson

Supervisor Don Peterson called the meeting to order at 8:33a.m.

 

2.            Roll call

Loughrin, Peterson, Handrich

 

Others present:  Mike Koles, Greg Blonde, Alyson Bechard, Connie Abert

 

3.            Review previous meeting minutes -

December meeting minutes were approved.  Motion:  Handrich; Second:  Loughrin; Motion carried unanimously.

 

4.            Review and accept Agenda  

Motion:  Loughrin; Second:  Handrich; Motion carried unanimously.

6.            Educator Reports

·         Current Programs and Outcomes

All educators provided reports.

 

·         Educator Reports

Penny presented on Teen Winter Camp that was held last weekend.  Greg presented on the economic impact of an acre of corn and explained the impact of the proposed sand mine on the agriculture economy.

 

7.            Unfinished Business

·         WACEC
A reminder of Wednesday’s WACEC meeting was provided.

 

·         Set 2013 Schedule
A final 2013 schedule was provided.

·         Interim Family Living Educator Update
Interviews of 3 candidates were held on 1/4/13 and Caitlin Mork was hired as a 70% interim from 2/1/13 to 8/1/13.  Mike and Caitlin will be attending the HCE Executive Board meeting on 1/28/13.

 

·         Family Living Intern
Unbeknownst to anyone until after Marilyn retired, she had set up an intern for the Spring Semester.  Alyson and Connie Abert will be providing support.  Her name is Stephanie O’Keefe and will be in the office an average of 9 hours per week.

 

8.            New Business

Out of State Travel (Minneapolis)
Koles requested to attend a Business Retention and Expansion professional development course in Minnesota.  Tuition is being paid for by the UWEX Center for Community and Economic Development.  Travel will be from the educator’s travel account.  Motion:  Loughrin; Second:  Handrich; Motion carried unanimously.
