EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE
DATE AND TIME: Monday, November 26, 2012 – 8:30 a.m.

1. Call meeting to order and Open Meeting Statement – Peterson
Supervisor Don Peterson called the meeting to order at 8:31a.m.
2. Roll call - Peterson
Loughrin, Peterson, Kietzmann, Handrich
Others present: Mike Koles, Greg Blonde, Alyson Bechard, Connie Abert, Marilyn Herman; Penny Tank came late at 8:50 a.m.; Tom Schmitz also came at 8:42 a.m.
3. Review previous meeting minutes - Peterson
October meeting minutes were approved. Motion: Loughrin; Second: Kietzmann; Motion carried unanimously.
4. Review and accept Agenda
Motion: Handrich; Second: Kietzmann; Motion carried unanimously.

6. Educator Reports
· Current Programs and Outcomes
All educators provided reports; Marilyn commented on HCE knitting project and also served a Haitian desert.
· Educator Reports
Connie Abert presented on the ACHIEVE Healthy Community grant that she worked on with the City of Waupaca.
Penny Tank presented her awards banquet PowerPoint, which was a summary of the year’s activities and programs.

Department Head Report
Mike Koles announced the WACEC meeting on 1/23/13 and asked for members to let
him know about their attendance.

· Personenl Changes
Marilyn Herman announced her retirement and Tom Schmitz talked about Marilyn’s accomplishments and the refilling process.
1. Based on the refill schedule, posting in April/May is likely
2. A listening/vision session would be held early on in the process; Marilyn and all staff and
Supervisors can help identify stakeholders to involve
3. Position description is developed with the committee
4. There is a 4 – 5 week posting
5. Paper screen (2 – 3 weeks)
6. Preliminary interview (DH, Tom, and Program Area)
7. Final interviews with candidates with committee
· Motion (Handrich) to move forward with interim coverage to begin as early as 1/1/2013 and run through final hiring. Second: Kietzmann; Motion carried unanimously.
· Motion (Lougrhin) to fill position permanently. Second: Handrich; Motion carried unanimously.
· Mike will add Vice-Chair election on December’s agenda. Dick has yet to approve a replacement for Supervisor Marty Mares.
