EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE
DATE AND TIME: Monday, July 30, 2012 – 8:30 a.m.

1. Call meeting to order and Open Meeting Statement – Peterson
Supervisor Don Peterson called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m.
2. Roll call
Handrich, Loughrin, Peterson, Mares, Kietzmann
Others present: Mike Koles, Alyson Luchini, Marilyn Herman, Greg Blonde, Penny Tank, Dick Koeppen, Kristy Seblonka
3. Review previous meeting minutes
June meeting minutes were approved. Motion: Handrich; Second: Mares; Motion carried unanimously.
4. Review and accept Agenda
Motion: Kietzmann; Second: Mares; Motion carried unanimously.
5. Public Input
Dick Koeppen provided a summary of the budget discussion at the Executive Committee, the recent NaCO meeting in Pennsylvania, and the presentation by Sandra Day O’Connor at the NaCO Convention. Her presentation focused on bringing civics back into the classroom.
6. Educator Reports
· June Programs and Outcomes
All educators (except Blonde) provided reports at this juncture.
· Educator Reports
Kristy Seblonka, interim CRD Educator in Portage County, and Mike Koles provided a presentation on a recent strategic planning process that they conducted with Portage County EMS. Mike was asked to mentor Kristy on this project. He explained how when you have UWEX in your county you have 800 people that you have access to in the specialist and county educator corp.
· Department Head Report - Koles
Koles provided information about the UWEX portion of the budget and how we’ve been asked to budget for a 2% salary increase. This is the first projected increase in many years. This is just projected at this point.

Fair Costs
Motion Mares, Second Handrich to have Koles schedule meeting with the Fair
Board at their already scheduled November meeting to be held on November 8th.
Koles will contact Kay Hilskotter and report back at the August meeting.

9. Correspondence
· Portage County EMS Director provided a thank you letter to Koles regarding the aforementioned efforts and this was cced to the committee.
