GOVERNMENTAL BODY:          WAUPACA COUNTY AGRICULTURE AND

                                                            EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE

 

DATE AND TIME:                          Monday, May 7th, 2012 – 8:30 a.m.

 

PLACE:                                             Room 1037, Waupaca County Courthouse

                                                            811 Harding Street, Waupaca, WI

 

OPEN SESSION:  This meeting and all other meetings are open to the public.  Proper notice has been posted and given to the press, in accordance with Wisconsin statutes so that the citizens may be aware of the time, place, and agenda of this meeting.

 

1.            Call meeting to order and Open Meeting Statement– Peterson

Supervisor Don Peterson called the meeting to order at 8:30am. 

 

2.            Roll call
Handrich, Loughrin, Peterson, Marty Mares, Kietzmann.  Handrich left at 8:59 to attend the Land and Water Conservation Committee meeting.

 

Others present: Mike Koles, Alyson Luchini, Marilyn Herman, Greg Blonde, and Penny Tank.  Connie Abert was excused.

 

3.            Review and accept Agenda
Motion: Mares; Second: Handrich; Motion carried unanimously.

 

4.            Election of Chair and Vice Chair
Peterson called for nominations for Chair.  Loughrin nominated Peterson.  There were no other nominations.  Mares moved to cast a unanimous ballot for Peterson.  A second was made by Handrich.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Peterson called for nominations for Vice-Chair.  Handrich nominated Mares.  There were no other nominations.  Loughrin moved to cast a unanimous ballot for Mares.  A second was made by Kietzmann.  Motion carried unanimously.      

 

5.            Review previous meeting minutes

March meeting minutes were approved.  Motion: Loughrin; Second: Handrich; Motion carried unanimously.

 

6.            Introduction of Committee Members and Educators
Introductions occurred.

 

7.            Educator Reports

·         April Program and Outcomes
All educators provided reports at this juncture.

·         Educator Reports
Penny Tank and Kayla Oberstadt provided a summary presentation of Kayla’s winter internships with the 4-H Youth Development Program.  Penny noted the start of a new 4-H Club in the Town of Dayton.

 

·         Department Head Report
Koles reported on a recent public records request that was submitted by Sue Johnson regarding the Market Animal Committee.

 


 

8.            Unfinished Business

·         County Board Tour
Mike reviewed the proposed agenda for the County Board tour.  The committee was supportive of the agenda.

·         Fair Costs
The discussion was tabled until the next meeting pending reception of printer and computer costs from Information Systems.

·         WACEC Registration

Mares and Keitzmann confirmed they will attend WACEC.  Peterson cannot attend.  Loughrin does not know yet.  Handrich had left the meeting and Koles will contact him.  Koles will take care of registration for the conference and pre-conference 100 year celebration at Lambeau Field.  Supervisors are responsible for their own hotel reservations.

The committee also indicated that they would each contribute $5 for Koles to purchase an auction item.

9.            New Business

·         100 Year Anniversary Commemoration Resolution
Koles provided the committee with the resolution.  Keitzmann moved; Mares seconded; unanimous approval (Handrich absent).

12.        Next Meeting
