Fair
Koles presented the data compiled by Tank and Strelow and refined
collaboratively by Tank, Strelow, and Koles that summarized the 2011
UW-Extension costs associated with Fair support. Following presentation a
motion was made by Federwitz and seconded by Handrich to: “Charge the Fair a
flat fee of $400 plus provision of Fair passes, which would cover the non-labor
costs associated with judges, superintendents, and clerks letters and estimated
costs the Fair incurred in 2011 through the agreed upon bartering system. The
flat charge should be revisited every 5 years through an inventory of costs
similar to the one performed in 2011.” The motion passed 4-0 with Peterson
abstaining.
During discussion, Federwitz inquired about who would replace the computer and
printer that the Fair currently uses when they no longer work and who pays for
maintenance and repair. It was agreed that Koles will ask Information Systems
about whether or not they would support purchase of a new printer when this one
goes down as IS has indicated they would like to decrease the number of units
throughout the County system. Koles will also inquire about potential prices
for a computer and printer. Koles will bring this information to a future
meeting. Additionally, the committee indicated it would like to meet with the
full Fair Board during an Extension Committee meeting in the next several
months so that a memorandum of understanding that identifies the relationship
between the Fair and UWEX, including both financial and non-financial, can be
agreed upon.
