Minutes for August 28, 2013

 

Present: Hon. Judge Hoffman, John Snider, D.A., Mary Kay Poehlman, Bill Lipschultz, Terri Brooks, Sherry Fisher, Kip Morton, Officer Mark Zachow, Terry Taylor, Mary Anich, Mary Lea St. Thomas

 

1.  7:30 AM call to order by John Snider. 

2.  Roll Call

3.  It was noted that the meeting had been properly advertised and posted.

 

4.  Motion to approve agenda by Mary Kay Poehlman, 2nd by Judge Hoffman.  Motion carried.

5.  Mary Lea St. Thomas made a motion to accept Kip Morton as a new member of WCACCJ, second by Bill Lipschultz.  Motion carried.  Welcome to Kip –  He is a representative from Fresh Start which is a program sponsored by CAP Services.  This program is offered to youth (ages 17 – 24) who need extra assistance to be capable of finding employment and becoming self sufficient. 

6.  Motion to approve the June 2013 meeting minutes by Mary Kay Poehlman, second by Judge Hoffman.   Motion carried.

7.  Treasurer’s report:  Checking account $403.70, savings account $1,176.14.  Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Judge Hoffman, second by Bill Lipschultz.   Motion carried. 

 

8.   Information Sharing Program/MOU:  We will all review the MOU and approve at the September meeting.

 

9.  AB74 Legislative Update:  The bill was vetoed by our governor, Scott Walker.

 

10.   Membership:  On going. 

11.  Roundtable Sharing:  Kip shared information about CAP Service programs. 

Mary Kay Poehlman noted that Linda Behm is in the process of a Waupaca County Needs Assessment.  This is done every 5 years.

 Judge John Hoffman shared that he did a video conference at Fox Valley Tech for a defendant who was in jail in Oklahoma.  The defendant was also in a technical college in Oklahoma.  Modern technology made this possible.

Sherry  Fisher noted that the Waupaca County WINS compliance checks were very high this year.  38% of tobacco retailers sold to minors in the first quarter, and 33% sold in the second quarter.  Education will have to be provided again to remind the retailers of their responsibility not to sell tobacco products to minors.
